Mullvad DAITA servers down/degraded

Mullvads DAITA servers have been down or degraded for a week now, with the site showing a big red notice that Mullvad are ’looking into this.’

There used to be six DAITA servers in sweden, as far as I can remember, with now only one (!) working. A few days ago, after the issue was already known to Mullvad, there were two DAITA servers available in sweden, which means the problem has somehow gotten worse.

Edit: The second DAITA server in sweden works again. It might have been a temporary issue. The fact still is, however, that the other 4 are not working at this point in time.

DAITA is not something new and has been running since late march as far as I can tell.

While the servers being down for a few days for maintenance or the like could be plausible, the servers being down for a week (and more going down/not working) worries me.

Furthermore, this is the first time that I have seen Mullvad use a red banner on their main page to announce a degradation of their service.

Perhaps someone could ping a mullvad worker on this site, if they are registered here.

Has anyone contacted support directly to get an answer as to what is happening?

DAITA has always been flaky. Mullvad support is poor imo compared to say IVPN.

Although DAITA is slower than without, as expected, I have never had any problems with it. The only issue for me since they implemented it, is the lack of supporting servers since the beginning.

Now that is even worse because of the issues they are facing.

Their wording on their banner is also poorly chosen (’looking into it.’) as it could be understood to mean that they do not know what is causing problems.

While it could just be an ISP or networking issue, I cannot stand behind that conclusion. The reason being that I do not know how many DAITA servers there were in other countries before. If it were just an issue they are facing with Swedish servers, ISP issues could be a possible reason.

I inquired about this issue. I was informed that the DAITA servers are unstable and crashing. They also explained that they are removing some DAITA servers to rule out the possibility of hardware-related issues.

There is currently no timeline for when this issue will be resolved, but they stated that using the currently available DAITA servers is safe and there are no problems with encryption and other features.
