Mention DuckDuckGo's (and Signal's, Brave Browser's, and SimpleX's?) QR Code Generator

Since some, including me, have found QR code generators to be really useful, I would like to point out that DuckDuckGo makes qr codes if you type in “qr” before the link. This works on any browser, unlike Brave’s generator. However, since DDG is a Bing proxy, it may be best to only use links without PII.

For example, you could search: qr privacyguides.org

According to yipii and Robin_RM, Signal, SimpleX, and Brave also have generators, but I’ve never tested them out. (I also have no idea how to on SimpleX.) Maybe they can be mentioned as slightly less convenient, but more private qr code generators?

On Linux you can also use the qrencode CLI tool, and I’m sure there is a plethora of GUI options available on Flathub.

Qr codes are nice. When I want to share data between personal phone and work computer, I upload my file on the web, then generate a qr based on the shared link, then scan the qr with windows camera app. Easy sharing without installing work stuff in my phone.

DuckDuckGo doesn’t have their own, it just redirects to a https://goqr.me/api/ URL.

I will add that a few days ago browsing Reddit I saw that they published a new open source project where you can generate QR codes from a website without trackers and working browser side without the need for a cloud, the warning would be that it is a project that just started but it looks interesting.
