What security am i actually getting by being on lte-only mode?
I set up my phone with lte-only and i could still call 3g only phones. Does that mean my phone connects to the 3g network directly thus negating lte-only security?
Are there any downside of lte-only? I want to make sure i do not miss any calls while on lte-only.
the other party has no relation.
no, your connection would still be LTE.
if VoLTE is functional you should always use LTE only mode.
Given how many carriers are phasing out 2g/3g and mandating VoLTE, this is unlikely.
I read that volte actually does not use ss7 but only 2g and 3g does. Does that mean that when i am on lte-only i am protected against ss7 attacks?
It is, You are still connecting via your cell provider’s tower to receive not P2P if I am right.
I forgot to ask. Does sms make use of lte-only mode or it is only for calls? Are my sms more secure with lte-only mode or it only affects calls? Found nothing on the internet about this.
You can send text messages by LTE, but this could depend on your operator.
Actually my question was pretty stupid. If i use lte-only mode there is no other way sms could arrive to me because 3g is disabled…stupid me…

SMS works just fine over LTE or even VoWiFi
In wich country ?
SS7 backward compatibiliy seem to be used with some providers.
