Looking for "Shelter" alternative

I used your app which called Verified Apps to scan my apps and I found that Shelter the famous work profile manger is SO OUTDATED and now I am looking for an alternative.

Could you give me any suggestions?

I personally can’t see how this is outdated, it seems that the repo you linked is being updated

Have you tried the native Private Space?

They only updated F-droid thing and README file and the rest have not been update for more than 1 year.

And by saying the native Private Space you mean that one which in built-in the mobile?

My Samsung phone doesn’t have this feature built-in.

what samsung are you using, or to be precise that means you’re not on Android 15 or above?

I am on android 16 and if I can make a work profile using built-in feature in my phone, How will I trust that the work profile is completely private from the rest of my phone and BTW I am downloading games and do all the unsafe stuff in the work profile so that’s why I need something trusted to manage that.

Sound like “Secure Folder” in Samsung phones, Am I right?

what games may I ask?

you can use a VPN, DNS-wide content blocking (or ones that run on your phone I guess like rethinkdns) and an email alias within a game so I wouldn’t worry about it

Fortnite, Plato, Hustle Castle, some cracked games, cracked apps and more.
Right now I am using Invisible Pro beta for the main profile with NextDNS and Tor for changing my IP and TrackerControl for the work profile, So I Think the workaround you are suggesting is a little “poor” for what I am looking for although it is amazing but not for me atleast.

maybe check

or

The last release was more than 2 years ago, according to the F-Droid repository. It might not be a problem, since the dev is still active (see the screenshot)

Samsungs in general don’t have Private Space

If you wait a week or two I might have a suggestion for you :man_shrugging:

They call theirs Secure Folder and it’s been around since before Private Spaces.

Thank you for letting me know. Sadly, you need to have either a Google or a Samsung account to use Secure Folders, which requires providing a phone number for one of them.

I forgot about that part, yeah that’s awful.

you should be able to create an account and use one of these sms sites to get around the number requirement.

This would be very handy. My current job wants us all to use Microsoft Teams on our own personal devices

Hey @jonah.

Wondering how the new work profile solution is going? I need to set up a new phone this weekend and would rather not use Shelter if yours is now useable.
