Hello community, I have a question: Is there an alternative Instagram app that respects privacy and is usable? I used to use Barinsta, but it was discontinued, or do you recommend using Instagram as a PWA?

I’m using an Instagram mod (MyInsta) which is good for privacy from other people (no story visualization, DM visualization and other fantastic features).
However, it’s worth noting that using a mod like MyInsta requires trusting the developer, because not being open-source, it’s unknown what the APK contains.
But I think what you want is a bit more privacy from Meta, in this case you can install Instagram in a work profile like Shelter (maybe Instagram Lite version because it doesn’t have trackers according to the Exodus report, although this doesn’t necessarily mean it doesn’t spy on you).
I find the web version to be a bit limited since the last time I used it, that’s why I don’t recommend it.

I use Instagram as a PWA in Brave, it’s not as convenient to use and when I scroll a lot they stop loading posts, but I take that as a sign that I’ve used enough Instagram for the time being, switching from using the app to PWA has helped me limit its use even though that wasn’t the goal. There are times when Instagram doesn’t work well with Brave’s aggressive blocking of trackers and ads, but it usually fixes itself within a few days. By using it as a PWA you only avoid the trackers that come inside the app, but not server side, if you are concerned about that you should switch to Pixefeld.
