Hi, I’m filling out the ZoomInfo (popular data broker) opt-out form, and I see this question:
Would you like us to share your opt-out request with other data providers, to let them know that you do not wish to have your data sold?
The description is:
Selecting “Yes” does not guarantee that other data providers will see or honor your opt-out request. We will only share the email address you submitted to access this form, which will be hashed using a one-way cryptographic function that cannot be decrypted to the original text and can only be matched on. Data providers can use the hashed email to match against the information they already hold in order to facilitate your opt-out request.
Is this a good privacy option, or should I stay away from it? Thanks!
It is protocol to link the product you’re taking about.
Sorry about that! I fixed it.
With such services, it is always hard to say how well these companies safeguard your data and how eefective they are going to be.
But because this company has other core products too, I do not think or trust them enough for this type of a service which to me feels like an afterthought and only have this because they have the infrastructure already in place and the tech is available. This is not their specialty and hence I would not trust them. Also, they are a B2B service provider for the most part and they don’t seem like a privacy conscious company given the lack of privacy characteristics based on privacy tenets we like and value here.
But this is just my opinio. It’s a no from me.
