Ah I should have included a screenshot. Thanks to @Shampoo.
I’m still on 18.7.1, but intend to go with always ask. It’s very rare I do data through USB.
Edit: Can also confirm for group that an iPhone 11 only has the 2 options.

Thinking about it that probably is it yeah. Lightning port iPhones probably have the two options and USB C iPhones probably have the bigger list.
Oh good I wasn’t sure what to do there were so many new things suddenly switched on… did anyone update the recommended settings for iPhone yet? Thanks for all the recommendations and comments!!!
How does the “always ask” setting improve security over “allow when unlocked”?
Does it make you (re)authenticate even if the device is unlocked, or is it just an additional dialog for you to click w/ no auth?
Devices always have to request access to use the USB for data as opposed to just charging. Helps to prevent juicejacking and other USB based exploits.
Even when set to allow when unlocked, I’m still prompted to confirm and enter password and use face ID when connecting to my computer.
So I suspect there is some weirdness going on, unless they’re talking strictly about like actual accessories dongle things?
This was a really great video, thanks for sharing. There were a few settings I did not see such as Wired Accessories but I wonder if that is because I’m not in the USA. I want to watch this video one more time and make a note of all the recommendations and compile with those that have been mentioned in the wiki and other forum topics. I also don’t understand the new Apple Intelligence & Siri settings which I need to read up on. Thanks all for the very interesting and informative suggestions…
