Introducing Lumo, the AI where every conversation is confidential | Proton

What makes you say that and why? Simply commenting a blanket statement with nothing to explain about it doesn’t mean anything.

Unless anything is factually and anecdotally (historically speaking from years of observations) is incorrect or wholly inaccurate, I don’t see a need to label anyone or any comment as an apologist one.

seems a bit old. Also, when I try to buy Lumo Plus, it removes my current discount, turns it into regular subscription price and then adds itself as an addon. Why can’t I just add Lumo Plus as standalone addon without affecting my current sub? There was a reason for cancelling my Proton Family subscription and their policies are not helping for me to reactivate my sub.

Yeah, this is what I brought up to Proton’s attention above in this thread too. Feels inefficient and unnecessarily confusing.

And yes, if what you got is true, then the models are quite old. But that could be for the free users only?

This is brand new tool. We need more information from Proton from all our concerns and questions we have in this thread. Hope they clarify.

@Proton_Team - I hope you are following this thread/posts today.

Just typical predatory behavior of capitalism.

I think you’re referring to the whole AI bubble right? As in the trend that Proton, Brave, and DDG is following?

C’mon now.. Proton is not predatory. They do want to nudge everyone wanting to sign up to the best plan they have is all. Yes, this is the first time I am seeing such a confusion and feels unnecessary with how they are offering people to sign up/upgrade to Lumo Plus. Questionable indeed. But I won’t go so far as to say it is predatory right away especially when there is no pattern established with how they conduct themselves.

It is disgusting, but the discount issue mentioned here is just the sugar on top.
They’re all just trying to inflate their subscriptions.

Now that I am thinking about it, in the future if you want to not want and pay for Lumo, you can’t if you sign up the way they are offering you to. You will be stuck with it. People should be careful about this with this one.

So its best to open a new account to sign up for Lumo Plus there with whatever new user discount they may have and keep your existing account/subscription value and price safe.

I wish they simplified the subscription model a bit.

Adding on Lumo Plus is just another confusing add-on to the wide variety of tiers provided by Proton.

The best solution to this is to make your own plan.

Only want Mail Plus and Calendar? Select that and add to cart.

Only want VPN and Drive? Select that and add to cart.

Only want Drive and Proton Pass? Select that and add to cart.

Highly customizable plans will make more people move to it if you ask me. Not everyone want everything all the time.

What I don’t like is that it seems that with this release they also removed the activity monitor functionality from my visonary account.

But otherwise really cool news. Definitely will use this.

How about instead of Lumo AI, why not no AI?

Yes they are. And this, and not having customizable plans, proves it.

I see it as problematic but not predatory. Please don’t conflate something bad to something absolutely and undeniably terrible and morally objectionable to a point of something being illegal.

Please look up what predatory actually means especially in such contexts. You are incorrectly assessing and inferring this problematic issue or a starting-to-grow-concern.

AI is inherently predatory.

So is every system humans have employed to grow and to become a modern society. By your logic, humans have always been predatory on this planet. Perhaps we should all stop existing?

Your argument makes little to no sense.

This can be solved @Bhaelros by literally utilizing the web search, if you have the option to which to my understanding should be able to.
My friend just asked the current time and Lumo prompted him to turn on web search

I am getting convinced that family plans do have Lumo Plus somehow, I am in no way being limited here

Yeah, I just learned that too. Thanks for updating. I’ll use it a bit for don’t think will buy into this right away. I’ll want this tool to mature and then use one of those discounts Proton offers a couple of times a year to buy if I still need to.

For now, since I don’t share any PII to AI models, I’ll stick with NanoGPT. Quality of responses is more important to me right now.

yep, one downside I’ve found, it does not support uploading images, I bet NanoGPT and others do.

Family Plan doesn’t have Lumo Plus and it is switching my 24 month subscription to 12 month.

If I choose Lumo

If I go with normal renewal

If I add on Proton Mail account page, not Lumo account page, I get the option for Lumo for 24 months. Also see that they are reducing my credits from 90 to 61,85 with that option for no logical reason.

and my current pricing (which Proton refuses to extend)

I know, I’m just baffled I;m not at all limited with Lumo, makes me think I may secretly have Lumo Plus, no idea.

I’ll be overseering this and Maple AI doe.
