How are you guys doing this?
I think it’s something that depends on whether or not you’re logged in or have an account. I just open up reddit links with startpage’s “anonymous proxy” feature & block trackers. But if you have an account, it might be a bit more tricky.
If you’re just looking to view Reddit, follow the Reddit frontend advice from Privacy Guides. If you’re looking to sign in, that’s a whole other matter. Reddit is very strict with new accounts created over Tor or VPN. In my experience, they may allow you to create an account but your comments and posts will automatically be hidden and require approval from subreddit mods.
I assume they’d want your posts to be approved and then have you build positive karma, but I still had accounts end up shadow banned or explicitly banned even if I achieved that. I’ve since given up on signing up to Reddit over Tor or Mullvad VPN, but I have heard some claim that paid Proton VPN servers tend to work more often. Either way it’s a gamble. The only other option I could think of is to try public WiFi.
1. Use a search engine and the forum search before posting. No excuses.
Also, please put more effort into your initial post.
There is already a semi-active thread regarding this topic with a much more detailed opening post. Please continue the discussion below.
I’m leaving this thread up because of the useful replies from other community members.
