I absolutely have to get a facebook account to follow a small number of groups.
But if i create a facebook account - the second someone adds me to a group - i get suspended and facebook requires a video selfie.
Is there a way to start a facebook account and NOT provide meta with any real personal information?
Questions about Facebook in my opinion have nothing to do with privacy since it is not anything related to privacy.
I don’t know if this belongs here. But I suspect people will find me more wrong here with this opinion.

AFAIK it’s impossible. I tried a couple of years ago to make an anonymous account with a fake name, using a VPN (even TOR) and use blocklists to potentially block any tracking domains but they instantly banned the account and the only way to recover the account it was verifying the account with an SMS number or/and with a selfie to, of course, verify that you’re a real person and not a spammer/bot.
I just gave up, no matter how hard I tried, they constantly took down those accounts, so in my personal experience I think it’s impossible, but that was a couple of years ago and I don’t know if that could be possible at this day (I’m personally pretty sure it’s not).
I don’t recommend making anonymous accounts on big-tech services because they could ban your account anytime if you look suspicious to them.
But as always, it depends on what level of privacy you’d like to achieve.
There is no way around it, without leaking some sort of minor info. You can pay rando bum people to do the face scan but that in of itself is kind of suspicious. FB also tracks the metadata of the picture and video if it was taken from a cellular phone.
Facebook knows and has mastered everybody’s social connection.
Privacy concious people stick out like a Rudolph’s nose on the 25th of December.
