So, AFAIK this website hasn’t yet been subject to a DDOS attack, but it could come any day, just like to the Techlore website. I believe we should think ahead of a way to shield this website while remaining friendly to users who use Tor at Safest level.
I guess one way, though difficult will be to have our own Cloudflare-like system. One website which does this seamlessly is nitter.poast.org.
There is also the hCaptcha, but this is more to fight spam accounts than against DDos.
Overall, I am not sure what is the best but it does need reflexion.
Why would they scan all forums and sites for mention of no DDOS protection while there are automated tools to detect it ? I understand your logic, but this site will get DDOSed, it’s only a question of time. Preparing for it is the right thing to do, rather than putting our heads in the sand.
Tagging @jonah for opinion. How did you deal with it on the Techlore forum (that you also run AFAIK) ?
Using Techlore Forum with Tor or a VPN server that Cloudflare doesn’t like is insanely annoying. I really hope that PG Forum will never need Cloudflare.
