How big of a deal are firmware updates for Pixel phones running GrapheneOS?

I’ve noticed that GrapheneOS provides “legacy extended support” for older Pixel phones that are no longer officially supported by Google. For someone with a low threat model, is the risk of using these devices reasonably low? It’s hard for me to imagine that these older phones could be any less secure than the linux laptop I daily drive, unless of course the apps I use no longer release updates for these older versions of Android.

Seems like a fair assessment for your situation.
