Heavily torn on whether to buy a Fairphone with debloated Android or Pixel with GrapheneOS (maximum repairability vs maximum privacy)

Haha I’m past caring about trash-talk or people being rude to me, doesn’t matter to me that much no more. :mending_heart:

Wow, I can’t believe that this conversation is still ongoing between all 3 forums and now GOS devs are getting involved too.

A bit harsh there:

Given that OP has posted this on multiple forums, I want to emphasize that Privacy Guides does not always host the same opinions as community forum members. Everyone here is allowed to share their opinion as long as they are respectful about it. Although we recommend GOS officially, we also include guides on securing your stock Android and iPhone devices as well. Staff members own a variety of devices and are not limited to GOS. Some of us love Linux phones for example!

On the note, we do not officially recommend against the Fairphone because of our policy against anti-recommendations. Rather, we want you to explore options that may include better alternatives. If you want a Fairphone, go ahead and buy it. Just be careful of the security compromises involved that can’t be fixed even with substantial hardening or debloating. If that’s an acceptable threat model for you, by all means go focus on harm reduction.

All that does not conflict with the fact a Pixel running GOS is probably the best phone right now for security and privacy purposes.

I also want to acknowledge OP’s desire to find multiple perspectives for their decision. That is completely allowed here.

Anyways, this discussion has reached its zenith here and will be closed. I don’t want to encourage brigading and off topic discussion. Thank you to everyone who contributed their answers for OP’s questions.
