Google is expanding support for Quick Share and AirDrop compatibility between Pixel phones and iPhones to include Pixel 9 phones as well.

Removing sharing with everyone by default is a terrible decision. Apple reduce the timing of the “Everyone by default” from 30 minutes to 10 minutes at the behest of the Chinese government, because it was used in protests to share information quickly.

Google following suit will only help authoritarian countries.

That’s not really proven, the actual reason is because people would airdrop porn to random strangers.

There is a consensus of reporting saying the two are linked.

you seem to refer to comments made by a chinese official (as reported by Ars) (original here). Not sure why one would trust those more than actual facts. Also see the ars piece, at best Apple didn’t care about Airdrop privacy, at worst they actually ignored this to please the CCP.
