Seems very damning. US government was flouting its own rules.

Through its oversight and investigations, the Select Subcommittee found numerous instances of the federal government being weaponized against the American people. For example, the Select Subcommittee: :

  1. Highlighted censorship by Big Tech that led to Mark Zuckerberg admitting Facebook was pressured by the Biden-Harris White House to censor Americans.
  2. Empowered whistleblowers to come forward and have their voices heard despite retaliation by the Department of Justice and the FBI.
  3. Protected the First Amendment, leading to the dissolution of the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM) and other organizations that worked to censor Americans’ speech.
  4. Revealed the weaponization of federal law enforcement against the American people, leading to important policy changes from the Department of Justice and IRS.
  5. Uncovered evidence that the Biden campaign coordinated with 51 former intelligence officials to interfere in the American electoral system weeks before the 2020 presidential election by signing the statement calling Hunter Biden’s laptop disinformation.

Sure. If the title is not descriptive, is it fine to editorialize? Or should I find news coverage which has a more clear headline and attach the original source in the body?

You should link to the original source and use the title from the original source when possible.

edit: I think the government promoting censorship is on-topic (and interesting). We’ve already known about it though since we talk about White House pressure in our own censorship overview so it’s not exactly new news.

I think a specific instance of proven censorship by specific entities is interesting regardless. Your statement seems to imply that “government uses spyware” not being new news would make discussions about specific instances like Paragon and Pegasus useless.

Yeah I agree, that’s true. The instance we link to is from 2012 so it is unfortunate how little has changed.
