Website
Short description
This is a version of Send (currently listed on the File Sharing and Sync page) used through a command line. The developer also notes a difference in security between Send’s web-based version and command line version:
It would be possible however for a webpage to load some malicious JavaScript snippet that eventually steals the secret from the link once the page is loaded. Although this scenario is extremely unlikely, there are some options to prevent this from happening:
- Only use this ffsend tool, do not use the share link in your browser.
Why I think this tool should be added
As discussed in Remove the statement about Send's official instance, Send’s official instance will be terminated on June 7th. The page listing Send’s public instances also presents this important disclaimer:
This page does not give any promises or warranties with regard to instance security and reliability.
Unlike frontends with their public instances, Send is a tool that may handle potentially sensitive files, so eliminating the need to trust any instances would be preferable. I propose replacing the current listing for Send with ffsend
.
