Any1 buy a domain via cloudflare and then setup email via paid proton or tuta like bazzell eBook? For creating custom email aliases and can easily reply from alias?
Apparently proton does it better.
My proton VPN expires end of this month so was thinking about upgrading to include the email stuff so that I can leave ddg email aliases world.
Is it easy to do?
I subscribed to Tuta for this and regretted it, it’s janky to use in general and the custom domains are hard to administer eg new emails received by catchall do not automatically generate an alias making it easy to reply from the wrong address.
I’m moving away from Tuta and don’t recommend it for use with custom domain aliasing.
I have a custom domain fron Njal.la and use it with Tuta without any problem. It was easy to set and Tuta tests authomatically if the credentials are correctly added. As ph00lt0 says, add the domain to simplelogin (I use it to for aliases with my domain)
I’ve set up custom domains with both Proton and SimpleLogin. Both were straight forward.
I have a custom domain(s) purely for aliasing which I originally set up with SimpleLogin but decided to integrate directly with Proton instead. Too much of a pain to create reverse aliases in SL for sending outgoing mail. Easier for me to just add the specific aliases in ProtonMail that I need to be able to send from, that way I can easily select which email I’m sending from in the dropdown, and less likely to make mistakes. Still I have the domain set as “catch all" in Proton so all mail comes through. The downside is the limited number of aliases allowed in Proton but not an issue since I have catch-all enabled and just rotate out the aliases I don’t actively need to be able to send from.
Sorry that was kind of a tangent. Point is both Proton and SL are easy to set up with custom domain, and they both have guides that walk you through it (I’m not sure if they have ones specifically for Cloudflare)
ive done similar. anonymous ownership of domain via njalla, dns with cloudflare as SpamHaus blocked me within a year or so because of the dns records for whatever reason, and use tutanota & simplelogin.
very easy to do. i prefer tutanota simply because of the direction proton is going, as well as how theyve handled matters in the past.
