Basically, same as title. I would love to get a flip phone as a secondary phone, paired with my GOS device, but the only thing holding me back the last 1.5yrs or so is lack of MySudo/Signal/GPS. I absolutely need those 3 things for work. MySudo seems to always be the outlier of people not knowing if it works and I’d hate to waste a bunch of money to try them all myself, so I was hoping someone already had a dumbphone they could try it on or knew worked with MySudo. Thank you.
Afaik, MySudo requires the use of their app, only available through Google Play/iOS App Store.
I use it on GOS without Google, so I know it’s possible. Just not sure what dumbphone could achieve that as well.
Even on GOS, that’s still using their app, just potentially not installed through Google Play directly.
If you want a VoIP number that works on as many devices as possible, JMP.chat might be better for you, since then you only need to worry about a working XMPP client.
There’s not really such a thing as a “dumbphone” anymore, just very cheap smartphones with terrible operating systems and security. I would just stick with your GOS phone.
I understand. Still want the flip “dumb”phone that has MySudo access.
Dumbphones are usually only recommended here for people who need a true pre-paid burner number, but not as a replacement for a smartphone. I’d first consider using MySudo in another profile on your GOS Pixel as that’d be the cheapest and probably the most secure option.
If for whatever reason you must get a separate second phone and need the cheapest possible option, I’d just look for a cheap Android device. Older Pixels which are still compatible with GOS and Samsung Galaxy phones are some of the better options, but I’m sure there’s going to be an even cheaper low-spec (and probably outdated) phone from some lesser known brand.
If you’re insistent on specifically using a feature phone (which doesn’t provide any privacy or security benefit, may not be cheaper, and is more of a hassle to deal with) I’d go ask in more knowledgeable communities as you’d be leaving the realm of what’s best for privacy or security and entering the realm of digital minimalism. r/dumbphones has a pinned post which looks like a good place to start, but unless you could share a good reason as to why you’d specifically need a feature phone, I wouldn’t go this route.
