I hope more users discover other alternatives than just Duck. There are other very decent usable options out there like Brave and Kagi.
I agree. I wish that would be the case as well. But I’m sure most people would get frustrated at the smaller index capabilities of Brave, and would probably have a full on meltdown at the thought of paying for a search engine, even though Kagi is amazing.
But whatever the case may be, I will gladly take this as a W as it gets more people away from Google.
I don’t think these paid/premium search engines will ever have mass appeal. Free search engines are just too ingrained in the public mindset.
Don’t think its supposed to. It serves a different purpose for those who like such a product for all that it can do. It’s not just a simple search engine. You do get features and additional features as products too.
Free email too. But people are starting to learn it’s not good for them or their privacy. What they don’t know is how best to move away from it to better options that doesn’t cost them too much - in time or in money. And that’s where the mission and vision for all the privacy products we love come in, don’t it.
at least duckduckgo is giving us option of choice that AI can be disabled
