After Discord announced their DAVE end-to-end encryption protocol for audio and video calls in 2024, they’ve finally finished migrating all calls to use it by default.
The way they phrased the part about text implies they could be open to it if pushed, it would just be resource intensive and difficult. If they pulled it off though, discord would be doing something for the whole world on the scale of WhatsApp turning on e2ee or meta doing it for messenger.
As far as I can tell, they haven’t addressed metadata at all. I would assume they are still capturing, recording, analyzing, and sharing metadata associated with calls.
