Hi all! Is it safe to use Dark mode in browsers? I’ve gotten so used to Dark mode, but I started wondering if this mode might break websites on mobile browsers like Vanadium and Brave, as well as the PC version of Brave. I use Linux with KDE. I’ve been using Dark Mode in Linux for several years now—some sites force light mode and don’t work properly in dark mode.
I use video calls in browsers—do you disable WebRTC? If not, what settings do you use?
P.S. Some browsers disable dark mode by default, like LibreWolf.
Not sure where these questions you have are stem from since you haven’t explained that.
But yes, using Dark mode is perfectly okay. If you want dark mode on all websites, you can use Dark Reader extension that’s FOSS that works really well.
And WebRTC is needed for audio/video calling to work. You can’t use it if you don’t have it enabled. What settings we use? For me it’s the default since I do want my browser to work with all that it can do. But I have set it up to be semi ephemeral so I have no issues.
Regarding dark mode, some browsers have it disabled and mention in their wikis that you leave fingerprints if you use dark mode on all websites. So I was curious what the PG community thinks about this.
Well, since you have not shared where you read this info and what it actually says, nor you have mentioned that fingerprinting was an issue for you - so we can’t assess what you’re actually trying to understand with the number of questions you are asking.
If you ask me, it is not a big deal. Use the features and functionality you want and how you want based on your threat model.
Okay. Thanks for sharing. I don’t know why (since you have not explained why..) but good to know.

Jo, you still have not learned how to ask questions with the info you ask with, how you ask, and what you’re expecting as an answer as a resolution to your concerns (this may be a new account of mine but I have seen you here enough to say this. Please don’t take it negatively - it’s still an observation based on facts and your activity here).
