I am a bit concerned they chose a non-offical, closed-source TOR app and designated it as Tor , not the Onion Browser

We identified the 10 most popular web browser apps in the United States using AppMagic² by selecting the time period of 2025, with the tag browser, and store: iPhone App Store. Additionally, we added Safari to the list because it is installed by default on iPhones. Then we analyzed the privacy details of these apps on the Apple App Store.

So basically they just looked at the privacy nutrition labels on the Apple App Store. I’m extremely unimpressed by this “research.” Of course browsers need the location permission and things like that. They didn’t really analyze anything about how they’re used in the browsers.

It’s funny too because in the App Store, all browsers are using WebKit so it’s not even an accurate representation of the normal version of each browser.

I mean it comes from SurfSharks link farm. These blog posts are just written to create catchy titles and increase their SEO.

P.s. whats fun is when you click on the about us link at the bottom to see who wrote it, it takes you to their resource hub page, which, I kid you not, apparently exists out of: 1 researcher, 2 PR managers, and last but not least, a SENIOR PR manager :o !

You cannot make this stuff up.

I posted it cause it was shared by The Register, so I assumed it was reliable. Guess it wasn’t.
