Caved in and brought something online using PII

Hello,
I thought I would make an account after just browsing here for a while, I have been on my privacy journey for a few months

I recently have been feeling a bit stressed over the state of the world, and alongside some personal issues i have been facing, I caved in and brought some stuff online for myself.
I did use a email alias, but besides that it was all PII. I then had to contact their support via email and couldn’t figure a way to use the alias, so I had to use my proton email which has my “main online username,” basically connecting that username to PII through there support

I understand that it probably wasn’t the most privacy focused thing to do, but I personally feel a lot better because of it! I just wanted to ask if anyone here has had similar situations?
Also, should I be worried about the connection between the username and PII? My threat model is to mitigate mass surveillance and to protect my data, personally I don’t think its that much of a deal in my threat model but not an ideal situation :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

Thanks!

Yeah definitely. I wouldn’t beat myself up over it, every online service or store is designed to collect as much data as possible without much of an option to avoid it. You don’t have to be perfect but it’s worth maybe putting some thought into what led you to break your threat model and if you can adjust so it’s less likely to happen again.
