Saw Tuta announce this on social media and I 1000% agree with you. More privacy companies should do this, just like more privacy companies should join the Proxy Store, and support other anonymous third party payment options like Cake Pay.
That being said, I can imagine some companies being reluctant to do this if it’s too similar to the discounts they offer new paying users every year. Personally, I think the discounts offered via collaborations between privacy companies should match or be better than the ones offered by privacy companies on their own. But that’s just my opinion. They should also make sure that the discounts are private, in that your Tuta account is never linked to your Ente account.
I’m all for bundled subscriptions, but I also want to specify that when I advocate for Proton allowing multiple subscriptions under the same I account, it should be any combination of subscriptions in any number. Meaning that they shouldn’t force you to subscribe to Proton Mail Plus, Proton Pass, and Proton VPN (3 products), if you just want Proton Mail Plus and Proton Pass Plus (2 products). I am not even asking for a discount. I Just want to be able to pay for exactly what I want under the same account.
I have been hammering this point so many times, and I’m surprised that some people think Proton not allowing it is acceptable. I maintain that, to me, it smacks of enshittification and a dark pattern.
