Wish there was a way to download without resorting to the app store. OnlyOffice it is for me then.

Wait, I thought Collabora was the online version of LibreOffice, and now they make a desktop version? What’s the difference to Libreoffice?

Though the screenshot shows a modern ribbon UI similar to what MS Office and OnlyOffice have. But that could just be the existing, optional ribbon UI from Libreoffice.

I checked linux version, it looks fine. Simple UI, with aim to be familiar to MS Office users.
But I didn’t find Settings, or options to change anything. Good thing is, no telemetry or any connections, OpenSnitch was silent.

I suppose the compatibility with MS Office file formats should be better but I need to test it first.

It looks dumbed down like it was made for a tablet…but I guess that’s modern.

No Settings tab or button which is strange as stated in the previous comment.

I think this is like Proton and Codeweavers situation. From their FAQ .

Deploying Collabora Office (vs. a free LibreOffice) provides access to our huge depth of experience, combined with long term support, security maintenance, ease of deployment features (MSP patches, ADMX group policy management), and of course we love to work with our customers to help shape our product features and roadmap as we go ahead.

Also IIRC, Collabora is one of the larger financial contributors to LibreOffice development. I saw an infographics once from 2021 but the picture doesnt load now on their website.
