I have noticed that Brave browser is adding referral tags when a search is carried out with the pre installed search engines.
For instance a search for “privacy guides” with Qwant is
https://www.qwant.com/?q=privacy+guides&client=brz-brave&t=web
Startpage is
https://www.startpage.com/do/search?q=privacy+guides&segment=startpage.brave
and Ecosia is
https://www.ecosia.org/search?tt=42*****94&q=privacy+guides&addon=brave
Is this something to be concerned about? Using Brave on Android there is no way to edit the search engines.
The website can identify the browser in a variety of ways so I would sort this into “doesn’t really matter”.

Not quite sure how unique the referral is for Ecosia, looks like a unique tracking token compared to the other search engines.
We should update so that Brave can be attributed for the search.
Startpage is the one with this data (not brave), they know that brave users are using their search service.
Firefox and it’s forks do this too. Wikipedia for example:
