Hi, I wonder if it is possible to use ExifEraser (or any other similar tools) to automatically remove meta data from all taken images?
I love GOS camera for this feature, but unfortunately, there are features from GCam that I prefer to use. Atm, I just manually remove it after every photo taken, or just remind myself to do a batch removal regularly.
Instead of recommending tools, I would recommend a different usage. So basically, when I need to take pictures of Private document or if I need to take pictures of stuff that I will publish/ share on the internet, then, I would use the GraphineOS camera application because it does not record any of the metadata inside of the picture.
If I take pictures for myself, for example vacation or whatever, then I would simply take the pictures using Google camera application because it has good features. And if ever I need to share it to somebody else, then I would use exif removal to remove those metadata. So, compared to your method, I will only remove the metadata when I share that specific pictures.
A little trick for you is that Exif Remover can automatically re-share a picture after you use it. it’s in the settings of the application. And so, when you share a picture with Exif Remover,And then the application will share again to your final destination the file that has been cleaned.
Thanks! I was thinking about your use case where I only do it when I want to share it with others. I’m just a bit paranoia since I have Play Services with network access enabled under the same profile. So I just want to be extra safe that in case Google had access to my photo, I would give them as little info as possible.
But maybe, since you have the same thinking like I do, it may be safe after all.
@Grunge164 Happy Christmas
I do feel like you’re going in too extreme in your privacy journey. At first when you’re learning, its a common thing to overdo it. You might end up burn out because of too much effort.
It depends on your threat modeling. A spy in a dangerous country has different threats and consequences than joe nobody using google in the usa.
Id recommend reading a thread modeling guide to define what you want to protect against AND what the consequences of not protecting it. Here are two link, the short version and the long explaination version.
