I haven’t seen many people on the forum talk about this, but Arti is an upcoming rewrite of Tor in Rust. It seems like Tor’s security and speed may increase with the help of Arti, and that the also-in-development TorVPN app will consider Arti.

This initiative isn’t without critics however, namely SimpleX in this tweet. I don’t have the technical knowledge to completely understand SimpleX’s argument, but it seems to contradict some very popular and researched opinions. I would be very interested to know what others like @torproject think about this!

I personally think Arti could be really cool! Nym’s already written in Rust 
, but way more people use Tor, so this would make a significant positive impact for lots of people!
