Arkenfox for Firefox flatpak

Hello,

I will briefly explain the context of my request : I recently visited the Frontends page of PG recommendations and was very surprised to find that there is no way to browse each social media (FB, Insta, X…) without being logged into a personal account.

Therefore, I thought it would be a good idea to reserve a browser dedicated solely to social medias (as part of the compartmentalization of uses recommended by PG). Since I already use other browsers (Brave, Mullvad), I thought I could add one as a flatpak.

After inquiring on the same forum, I noted that it was best to avoid all Chromium-based browsers for the Flatpak format, but that Firefox remained acceptable from a security standpoint (as its sandboxing technology is only partially disabled).

However, I would still like to know if it is possible and advisable to add the Arkenfox option to Firefox installed as a flatpak ? (Wouldn’t this cause a conflict with the functioning of the flatpak itself?)

If you think it’s better to choose another browser based on Firefox but hardened (and available on flathub) (e.g. Librewolf…), let me know !

Thanks,

Don’t use any browser as a Flatpak. Neither Firefox, nor Chromium, nor any browser based on them.

It is possible to use Arkenfox, you can find your profile folder with about:profiles, but as I said, you shouldn’t use the Flatpak.

Since installing a browser as a Flatpak should be avoided, there are two options left for Linux atomic systems : layering and toolbox.

Which one should be preferred, based on your experience ?

would you kindly point us a link(s) rationalizing this statement/

Pls use the search function. It has been discussed many times on this forum by others and me.
