There have been a series of malware being distributed / using untrusted environments (relying on app store trust/infrastructure).

KDE store
If i am honest though this is a problem with all stores, they’re just too big and have no manual vetting.
The reason this is a problem is because they are low effort, and high payoff. Also crypto bros don’t tend to have the best opsec, and there is the ability to anonymously transfer those transactions to monero or some other coin.
It’s also a problem when people try to find the developer’s website:
