This is a minor observation that might not warrant a new thread, but I thought it was pretty neat and wanted to share.
After renting a car online and purchasing insurance coverage for it on my iphone, I received an email that stated:
“If you used an Apple device when you purchased RentalCover, your details might not have been shared with us so it is very important you activate your account by clicking the link above.”
I’m forced to use an iphone due to circumstances and I’m always skeptical of Apple’s claims of privacy, so this was a nice little evidence that appeased my iphone privacy concerns a bit.

There is zero evidence in this statement, the conclusion is ambiguous. It is no different from the positive statement:
If the statement was explicit, then more reassurance would be justified, for example:
Such an explicit statement would indeed be more reassuring, but it’s still interesting to me that they single out Apple devices like that. Their statement is ambiguous, but to me it implies Apple is doing something different about sharing data, no? (Let’s call it an implication instead of evidence)
What I’m curious about is what “details” are they referring to and why are they not worried about Android or another platform withholding my information? Maybe enabling certain privacy settings on iOS stops sharing info between the rental service and the insurance service (and not everyone enables such settings, which might explain why they use the word “might”) or maybe it has something to do with Apple’s sandboxing which seems highly praised even among the GrapheneOS community?

Actually I found my answer right on their website. Apple’s “Hide My Email” and/or “iCloud Private Relay” seem to be the culprits!

If you use an apple email alias then you shouldn’t be surprised if people wgi see ut know you’re on an apple device.
