Android 16 QPR2 pushed to GrapheneOS users

Two weeks after stock is not bad. I just got the update! If you need a refresher on QPR2 features, you can read Google’s announcement here.

Apparently, the Linux Development Environment now supports running Linux GUI applications in the terminal now?

I have yet to see it on my end. But thank you for the update!

It appears to still be in beta.

Yes. FYI, it was actually in Alpha 8 days after the release of Android 16 qpr2 (2-10 of December).

Without a lead developer too, iirc.

If you mean Daniel Micay he still a developer for GOS too my knowledge.

Daniel Micay is not a lead developer anymore

If I’m not mistaken someone else took his place

No, see below:

We’ll be continuing to hire people to work on GrapheneOS. Development is currently slow due to multiple people who used to work on it full time being unavailable for various reasons. Our lead developer was conscripted into the Ukrainian army which had the biggest impact on this.

Fair I thought you meant Micay.

Yeah but it doesn’t mean he left GOS. Looks like it’s was a Ukrainian guy that became lead developer after Micay I didn’t know this.

It is in Stable now.

I have a GOS tablet that I just upgraded. Idk if the update caused this, but my VPN silent notification is no longer visible at the top of the screen next to the time. : -( I think that sucks. Does anyone know how to change this? Can’t find in settings

Check settings > notifications if you have mask silent notifications turned on

What the helly, i most definitely did not turn that on, so it mustve been GOS. Thanks!

For future reference to others: the setting location is Settings > Notifications > Hide silent notifications in status bar

They have been killing it with these fast releases! Hope they can wind down for a while now, I bet they must be exhausted from having to deal with Pixel 10 support, Google’s shenanigans with QPR1 and not a month later having to port QPR2.

As for QPR2, Google also didn’t include some features in AOSP like lockscreen widgets for phones, for some reason.

I think they still need to get Pixel 10 support stable. It’s still experimental at the moment, so I imagine they’re still working just as hard. Only mentioning because I think it’s worth appreciating exactly how much work has gone into it all, not as a complaint, to be clear. It’s extremely impressive how many different things they’ve been able to juggle the last couple months.
