Android 16 is getting a little more secure by stealing this iOS feature (APK teardown)

They might implement auto reboot (every 3 days) as part of their Advanced Protection Mode

/s It might means in near future forensic tools will be available in every police station. Time to buy those stocks! /s

I’m interested whether advanced protection mode should be even considered at all.

On one hand, not being able to degoogle sucks, but APM could help less technically-literate people not be hacked by a zero-click attack.

When Google implements APM, it would probably go the way Lockdown Mode is for Apple…a form of harm reduction. It is not particularly useful when compared to much superior alternatives like Graphene OS, but is helpful for those stuck on stock android devices.

Apple or Google advertise Lockdown mode or APM (respectively) as protection against 0days?

Depends on what Google rolls out. GrapheneOS’ significant “APM” like feature is preventing dynamic code loading (for all apps except Vanadium?) & disabling JIT in ART for installed apps (in AOSP, I believe, it is already the case for system / framework code). Wonder if Google’s got the stomach for those.
