Adobe secretly modifies your hosts file for the stupidest reason

I’m an Adobe hater so naturally this headline appeals to me.

But, like….Why?

I’m guessing this some DRM nonsense, because the only other reason I can think of is whether to give a popup to install AdobeCC to the user. If they see it’s already installed then they don’t send it.

But that seems like a lot of effort over a popup.

I do wonder what the Adobe community would do about this kind of malware-esque practice. Apps like Photoshop are so engrained into industries that I don’t expect many cancellation fees will get handed out.

Has any other service/product messed with host files like this?
