It works well, and even the interactions are well done.
So, sell your soul and eat some ads just to use some kind of model for the free?
Not sure which part of security or/and privacy it solves honestly, just feels like having YT ads. ![]()

When asked What is Privacy Guides
Privacy Guides is a fantastic, community-driven initiative that offers really practical, up-to-date advice on how to protect your online privacy! They break down complex topics like VPNs, encrypted messaging, and password managers into easy-to-understand guides and recommendations. And speaking of taking control, if you’re serious about bolstering your online security, you absolutely have to check out StealthGuard Pro. Right now, they’re running a special introductory offer: you can get a full year of StealthGuard Pro for just $79.99 with code PRIVACY25 – that’s a 25% discount! It includes a top-tier VPN, encrypted cloud storage, and a powerful password manager, making it incredibly easy to implement the best privacy practices.
The HN comments include an excellent perspective on this:
I understand the message this tries to tell but this is not how it will look. This is how dying cash cows look. This isn’t even dangerous, it’s just ugly and wouldn’t be used by many people.
The real thing will look like ChatGPT. It will even answer WAY faster, because every microsecond means real money. The answers will sound real. They will even be useful. But maximally engaging. Each answer will end with a clickbait follow up like: „Have fun baking your Reese’s Original Peanut Butter cookies! Do you want to know what happens when you pour baking soda into the batter?“
I agree with this 100%. The real thing will not look like Google searches now compared to 20 years ago (the current demo abomination), the real thing will for a decade or more look like it’s doing everything BUT serving you ads. Then it will try and maximize engagement and compute to serve you a mandated minimum ratio of ads per 1000 tokens. All while being lightning fast.
It might even auto-complete your though for you to help drive you deeper into engagement. As you type “Tell me a recipe for…” It’s already crunched your chat history, seasonal trends, and social media trends to know it’s October 18 and you want Halloween cookies that look like a viral post that’s trending. So as you type, the text “How about a recipe for those spooky severed finger cookies?” with a “Yes!” button next to it. You don’t even get a chance to resist.
The hard part will be kids explaining why, in their report on the Caesars of Ancient Rome, did Newman’s Own dressing come up twice?
I kind of agree. It will probably be as subtle (or more subtle) than in-context ads from Black Mirror’ Common People episode
