Accrescent GrapheneOS

GrapheneOS officially added Accrescent to their inbuilt appstore as the recommended way to get apps outside of the Play Store.

So should we as a community start reaching out to developers of apps we support to join Accrescent? The team there has said that its on the app developers to put their apps there, rather than them recruiting apps for the store.

I’m not sure if that’s necessary, but it’s probably time to take another look at:

I disagree, Accrescent isn’t ready yet, I doubt that @lberrymage would want Accrescent to be added to PG right now.

This is sort of my thoughts as well since there’s only ten apps supported in it right now. Thats kind of why I was asking about requesting other apps to join the store rather than about directly recommending it through PG.

I’m quoting the developer:

We may take on some additional apps over time. This depends on how much the project can handle maintenance-wise and how willing those app developers are to deal with the early and changing nature of Accrescent. We’re not directly reaching out to any developers at this time, however.

Currently, on the Accrescent app, I see the following apps listed :

  1. Accrescent itself (presumably to update the app store)
  2. Arcticons (an icon theme, there are 3 of them)
  3. An assortment of other apps

Some of the apps in category 3 such as Exif Eraser are available via F-Droid repositories such as IzzyOnSoft. The app store is way too dry compared to something like F-Droid to add right now.

Also, while I don’t have a source on this, Accrescent doesn’t seem to have a hard requirement against inclusion of proprietary code - which means dependencies on Play Services could theoretically be present in the apps on that store.
