X.com is blocked my Premium account and my DSA appeal—and is forcing me to install the X app on my phone and wave at a camera. Has anyone else had this experience?

I have an X Premium account that I’ve been using for about a year now.
I use it on a desktop computer in a browser and don’t want this software on my phone under any circumstances.
For some time now, when I log in, I’ve been getting a message saying I need to confirm that I’m a human.

The proposed verification involves a QR code that I have to scan with my phone. After that, I’m asked to install the X app and perform further human verification via the camera, which requires me to wave my hand in front of the camera.
I do not wish to participate in this camera-based verification.
I’m not even going to explain why I don’t want to—it seems obvious to me.
I am, however, willing to confirm my legitimate access to the account in another way, such as via email, phone/text message, or CAPTCHA.

I have submitted multiple requests regarding this matter to X over the past few weeks (twice in the span of one month), specifically asking for an alternative verification method. I have also filed a DSA complaint. The DSA (Digital Services Act) is European legislation that, among other things, sets rules regarding the rights of users of large online platforms and the manner in which restrictions and complaints must be handled.

This DSA complaint process also falls under the umbrella of X.com and its internal handling of this matter.

The problem now is that this DSA request is being blocked by X because a previous request has already been submitted.
I have to wait for my complaint to be resolved before I can submit the DSA request.

I have not received any acknowledgment that either of the requests I submitted were received. Normally, it takes 7 days for a complaint to be processed. This period has already been significantly exceeded.
I have not received a substantive resolution to my earlier request.

This effectively leaves me stuck:
the existing request is not being resolved substantively, while I cannot file a DSA objection because a request is already pending.
Meanwhile, my Premium account remains inaccessible.

Has anyone else experienced this with X? I’m especially curious if anyone has found a concrete way to:
skip the camera verification;
verify via email, SMS, or CAPTCHA;
get an existing DSA objection at X to be substantively addressed after all;
or break through this procedural roadblock at X.
Or find a direct solution by escalating the issue to a specific person.

I’ve read that some people spend months trying to get their accounts back.
Given x.com’s behavior, I’m tempted to cancel my paid account
and immediately reverse the payment.

My reasoning is that they aren’t responding to my complaints.
I’m tempted to open another paid account right away—yes, using the same bank account.

Any concrete experiences or solutions are welcome.

This, honestly.

This will probably lead to another locked account immediately.

If you can appeal again to X to unblock your account, do it in Hebrew. It will[1] work.

Excuse me?
What does that have to do with it?
The Hebrew language?

Thanks for the reply. However, I’m not sure this addresses the actual issue I raised.

The statement that opening another account would “probably lead to another locked account immediately” appears to be an assumption. There is no explanation or evidence given for why that would happen in my particular situation.

I’m aware that creating another account could potentially create additional problems, which is precisely why I have not simply done so. My existing account is a paid Premium account, has been in use for about a year, and I am trying to resolve the access problem with X through its own support and DSA procedures.

The main questions in my post are different:

  • Has anyone experienced this particular camera-based verification requirement?
  • Has anyone found a way to verify without using the X app or camera?
  • Has anyone successfully obtained email, SMS or CAPTCHA verification instead?
  • Has anyone dealt with an X support request that remains pending while a new DSA request is blocked because the previous request is still open?
  • Has anyone found an effective way to escalate such a case to an actual person at X?

If you have personal experience with any of these issues, I’d be very interested to hear about it. But speculation about what might happen with a new account doesn’t really help me resolve the current problem with my existing account.

Yup. Same thing. Aside from I would never pay for an account so I’m using a free one. It appears that x doesn’t like when you use the website with a privacy browser, a vpn and they don’t have a phone number they can associate with the account is my hunch. After decoding the QR code it then just asks you to login and then after doing that it says a bunch of bs wanting you to use the app (clearly because when using the app they can obtain a hell of a lot more data off your device). I didn’t go much past that step. I did consider moving forward in an emulator but what the hells the point. The platform is literally just reposted AI ragebait, farming for engagement. This platform (along with pretty much every single other platform that exists) will never get any kind of identification from me. Jumping on camera, uploading documents, nothing. I don’t care if they think I’m a bot and I never jump on there again. If only more people looked at it that way and followed through.

If you really want to get another account, they will most likely be able to identify you with your browser fingerprint, using the same bank account is just another data point to confirm what they most likely already know. Fuck em. Support won’t be of much help from what I’ve read of others experiences. If they want to make it this difficult to use the platform, fuck em. Why use it anyways? Unless you know, you’re someone who’s posting the AI ragebait engagement farming posts in an attempt to make some passive income. Even then, they don’t care to have you continue doing that is the message they are putting out.
