Wireguard for iOS no updates

how come the app hasn’t been updated since February of 2023?

According to the official Wireguard website, the repository is marked as complete.

This suggests that the app is only receiving fixes for vulnerabilities and is largely considered fully featured.

Both Android and Windows as marked the same yet they’ve had many updates in the past two years.

Yes, it does seem a bit concerning, even if the app is feature complete.

There are alternatives in the iOS App Store like Streisand (free) and Passepartout (paid) which support WireGuard config files. The AmneziaVPN app also supports vanilla WireGuard, if I’m not mistaken.

Hope this helps.

The Windscribe app also supports importing WireGuard configs (including non-Windscribe).

I don’t think it’s worth dealing with any of this. Some Linux packages are a bit old, if I’m not seeing it wrong. Other operating systems were using 2021, 2022, or 2023 builds until 3-4 months ago. In fact, many embedded devices still use 3-4 years old packages. If the program does what it’s supposed to do and there are no security vulnerabilities, why would the developer release an update?

there were multiple bug fixes and significant performance improvements, eg.:

if wireguard-go is getting updates, then so should the platform packages.
relying on some random third parties to do it is unacceptable.

@username0990
I can’t make new posts since new account, but wireguard-go is the basis for the Android and iPhone apps, which is exactly what I said a few lines up.

The developer recommends using programs specific to platforms instead of wireguard-go.

@AstraKitten If these updates are critical for you, feel free to email the developer for a commit.

I think i(Pad)OS users should prioritize more serious issues, such as the fact that system services and applications notifications leak internet traffic outside the VPN tunnel.
