Why is NixOS recommended? Why did it get added in the first place?
I can understand all the recommendations except this one.

Its feature set is almost identical to Fedora Atomic. Recent packages and atomic updates. It has the additional benefit of being more customizable. I view it as sort of a cross between Fedora Atomic and Arch Linux.
It [Arch] was listed as a DIY distribution, primarily because of Reproducible Builds as a way to reduce the risk of supply chain based attacks, for that reason NixOS is listed also.
The changes in this pull request, which are reflected on the live site, also made an effort to highlight this advantage by including in the NixOS recommendation a link to the Supply Chain Attacks section of the Common Threats page.
