What kind of results do you get yourself? [Adblocking test]

I ended up switching back to Firefox since I only just noticed vertical tabs have been added.

Firefox, uBlock Origin and Proton VPN.

Currently only using two of Hagezi’s filter lists in uBlock. Pro++ ja TIF.

edit. Just a bit more tweaking and now it’s all set.

Brave + Ublock Origin + Proton with NetShield

The best filter for Mozilla’s uBlock! No more asking for Google logins anymore.

||id.google.com^

||accounts.google.com/gsi/$3p

||smartlock.google.com^

! Block “Sign in with Google” iframe in top right corner of websites
||accounts.google.com/gsi/iframe

IDK.
d3host.adblock doesnt affect my score at all
Enabling d2hosts.txt alone is whats raiseing it to 97%-99%.

Does that work for the “sign in to confirm you’re not a bot?”

I haven’t personally seen anything Google-related even once, so my cautious assumption is yes. I always have Proton VPN on. Silk is also in use, but I’m not sure how well it works.

Did you test?

This test isn’t reliable, if you block 3rd party scripts and frames, and also block every allowed website, the score actually decreases as you go along.

Using uBlock Logger, only the following network requests are made

17:18:25 adblock.lukobi.com 1 get image https://adblock.lukobi.com/assets/adblock/icon.svg
17:18:25 adblock.lukobi.com 1 get script https://adblock.lukobi.com/js/pagead.js
17:18:25 adblock.lukobi.com 1 get script https://adblock.lukobi.com/js/widget/ads.js
17:18:25 adblock.lukobi.com 1 get script https://adblock.lukobi.com/js/index.js
17:18:24 adblock.lukobi.com 1 get doc https://adblock.lukobi.com/
17:18:24 https://adblock.lukobi.com/

Yet it says I only blocked 3. Almost like the results are inversed

Nope, how do you apply the filters to uBlock?

Create a text file and name it whatever you like. Inside it, put the following text:

||id.google.com^
||accounts.google.com/gsi/$3p
||smartlock.google.com^

! Block “Sign in with Google” iframe in top right corner of websites
||accounts.google.com/gsi/iframe

Then save it and go to uBlock’s settings, then to ‘My filters’ – ‘Import’ – select the file you just created – ‘Apply changes.’

After that, clear all cookies and other data from your browser – Done!

Enjoy life without annoying Google stuff!

Please. Do tell me if it works as well as I think it will. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

It’s definitely come up in the thread a bunch of times already. Still, it’s a fun way to test and compare combos. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Same score? :sweat_smile:

Okay, sorry for before, if you use UbO, you just have to add

@@*$redirect-rule

and the test works fine. I get 97% on Firefox/uBo (100% if you discount cosmetic and scripts)

To be clear, that rule should only be added for performing the test, and should not be kept permanently, because it makes adblockers easier to detect.

It works for me without that addition, with the Firefox and uBlock combo.

edit. But a very good point to all!

Totally

I think this test originated from here…

The link says that it was archived, but it seems like tons of forks popped up.

Plus the one already linked in this thread.

I don’t know if this information has any significance, but I thought I’d share it.
