VyprVPN

Short description

About vyprvpn (I’m using this forum for the first time ,and using DeepL translation software)
I didn’t find any discussion about vyprvpn in the forum, does anyone know anything about it?

Why I think this tool should be added

I think it should be added to the recommendations
1.VPN Protocols: IPsec, WireGuard, OpenVPN™ and Chameleon™ (against censorship)
2.No-Log
3. third-party audits (I found one for 2018)
4.Access to Restricted Content

I’m not a professional, so please point out if I’m wrong!

VPN

They used to send DMCA notices to users who would torrent, they used keep logs, but they made it no logs in November 2018. They have been audited since then by Leviathan Security. Post 2018 they seem to be fine. There are better choices for VPNs.

Protect yourself with exclusive features and proprietary technology. VyprVPN is the best VPN for hiding your IP address for streaming, privacy, and more!

Being proprietary is not something to boast about lol.

Just use Proton VPN Mullvad Or IVPN for an actual private and secure experience

They’re great for privacy, but not all users can or want to spend $5 or more per month

But still, these 3 are what it boils down to in the end.
I f your searching for privacy.
It will be on the individual to decide how much worth is placed on the traffic that is sent through the VPN.
And honestly 5-6$ its a fair price, running servers, costumer care and all that other stuff costs them $
Proton, if you want one Service for everything. Or the free VPN if cant spend for your privacy.
The other 2 if you dont want a subscription longer than a month.

Flip already said it before but to clarify from my opinion if someone need to use Netflix then Proton And Windscribe are the closest open source options available for Streaming

Proton VPN has a free plan.

They changed ownership to Certida which is based in Texas in 2023. I tend to think jurisdiction is relatively meaningless, since its a matter of paperwork to change a companies headquarters if they so desire in most cases but many users on here think differently.

It seems what info they log now, has changed since the ownership change. From their privacy policy

This should be marked as rejected as they don’t meet the minimum requirements that PrivacyGuides has for its VPN section. I don’t have time to go over each point, but just opening their website confirms that they have trackers on their website, and use irresponsible marketing:

By using a VyprVPN your activity on-line cannot be tracked or intercepted making you safe from prying eyes of any type . . . VyprVPN has moden and strong encryption, and a guaranteed No-Log policy that keeps your information safe from hackers, identity theft and malware.

Interestingly, I also spotted multiple typos, which doesn’t really inspire trust. Furthermore, I believe that they are not open source, which is a requirement as well. Also, I think that the U.S. jurisdiction could be another issue as PrivacyGuides doesn’t accept providers from countries that could force secret logging, which I think is currently possible with the U.S. jurisdiction.
