Thoughts on iStorage datAshur?

This is a good feature, depending how difficult it is to use. The battery is a point of failure too, so if not all models have one I’ll consider those ones. These products have been around for a long time. I was worried the 4GB model is a 15 year old design, old stock that nobody wants.

I found a product comparison matrix on the manufacturers own website. Their HDD/SSD models claim to be bootable, but not the stick variants, except for the SD model. Prices don’t include tax.

Honestly even if the battery fails, if you plug it in the power should be taken from the usb end to unlock it so I wouldn’t consider it

I think it is a sick little flash drive especially for threat models like mine where you may at some point not have access to software like veracrypt due to you know, government overreach for example or otherwise just something that needs very few clicks to encrypt and decrypt data and no software, Maybe you are one of those who likes prefers web apps over dedicated apps and you want a solution as well

Point is there’s quite a lot of use cases, sure you may be better off with veracrypt but for the use cases it can fulfill, very cool

Tails requires a minimum of 8GB to install. 16GB is recommended for perpetual storage and installing additional programs. The only bootable iStorage devices are larger than that but really expensive. I’ll consider buying an iStorage device to use in conjunction with Tails.

What I need is an EDC kit for any eventuality. I’ll start another thread to discuss.
