Swedish authorities seek backdoor to encrypted messaging apps

So this is not viable, Apple still somewhat controls this so Apple users are in fact screwed. Sure you may be able to sideload the IPA if you’re technical enough and have the guts to renew every week or so. (but be on a trip where you can’t and kapoot) [but at this point I would just have it jailbreaked and install or otherwise]

Apple users don’t really own iDevices they purchase, merely rent them. As with all rent-seeking landlords, guess who dictate the rules.

The entire advocacy here for privacy on Apple devices is another “how to avoid the next skiff” in the shadows.

I am not sure about this. It should be seem if they are legal ways for the government to ask a take down of the apps.

Ah i meant from the website itself (unless Tor and VPNs are banned in said country)

Why not SimpleX Chat? If it’s only to circumvent app bans, XMPP would best be a last resort because of the limited safety it offers. IMO it’d be better to promote censorship circumvention instead to access well secured apps.

All these countries that were once praised as privacy havens are showing their true colors. o.o
