Hello,
I have question. What do you think of using Standard Notes as the 2FA app?
They do support “Authenticator” note type which you can scan the QR code, or paste the secret manually if you’d prefer that.
Also, the seeds can be exported to the simple .JSON file individually or the whole content of the Authenticator at once.
Since they’re audited, encrypted and recommended by the PG, it shouldn’t be an issue to keep my 2FA secrets in Standard Notes, or am I missing something?
Thank you for all your thoughts
Because it costs $90 USD + tax a year at-least. Way too expensive and pointless to use it just for 2FA.
We have several better options that cost nothing.

I think they removed this feature recently?
Its still in the Android App, my bad
The website’s pricing page still shows it.
Yeah but if you use it for note taking already you can utilize their 2FA.
@HauntSanctuary Feature is present and I couldn’t find anything of it being deprecated.
Your question was specifically about it being used for 2FA only. Not for a notes too.
Besides, everyone with Proton Unlimited is waiting for Proton to provide Standard Notes within the same plan as a free add-on since now they own it.
Furthermore, this is kind of a moot question. Superior options exist for free. It’s much easier to add 2FA to those apps than it is in Standard Notes.

How it’s easier? The procedure is exactly the same. You either scan the QR or enter the secret and it displays OTP code. SN also has autocopy, and it is very similar to Aegis in my workflow. So, could you kindly pinpoint what is easier, or is that just a empty bias?
Okay look. Use whatever you want to use - my job as a community member is to provide info on what I think is best and true. You don’t have to listen or be convinced if you do not want to - for any reason.
You asked a question and people responded.
Let’s move on. You do you.
