South Korea Suspends DeepSeek AI Downloads Over Privacy Violations

South Korea has formally suspended new downloads of Chinese artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot DeepSeek in the country until the service makes changes to its mobile apps to comply with data protection regulations.

Downloads have been paused as of February 15, 2025, 6:00 p.m. local time, the Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC) said in a statement. The web service remains accessible.

Possibly more to come in other countries? This ban didn’t really impact much since the web service is still to come.

It isn’t banned in France and Germany.

it isn’t? It was mentioned to be banned here.

Just use it with a 3rd party provider that will be OK with your privacy.

Only banned in Italy I think. France is just investigating.

right France and Germany are investigating
Guess they weren’t wrong when they said not to take samtime seriously, but still where could’ve he gotten that france and germany was affected? Anyway likely an error on our parts.
