Should Siri be enabled?

I have recently read some articles about Siri leaking conversation data, and how processing it locally solves that issue. From the Siri and Dictation privacy page, it informs that it collects data only if it is enabled on the Improve Siri and Dictation section inside Privacy and Security. However, when scrolling the page a little further, it shows that some contextual information is sent to apple, while not explicitly informing if it is sent regardless of the improve setting. Does anyone have more info on these settings?

You want Siri and dictation or just Siri?

Their privacy pages read the same. Therefore, I understand that the privacy implications of both would be the same as well. Am I wrong?

Hmm, question is it in the same section or same paragraph as the “if it is enabled in Improve Siri and Dictation”

In the contextual informations part, it mentions both. It reads:

When you use Siri and Dictation, the device sends contextual data to Apple, including from third-party apps that you allow to integrate with the Use with Siri Requests feature, such as:

• The names of contacts, nicknames and relationships (e.g. “my father”), if you configure them in the contacts

• Treatment, if defined in the language and region settings

• The songs and podcasts you like

• The names of your devices and the devices of your Family Sharing members

• The names of accessories, houses, scenes, members of a shared home in the Home app and Apple TV user profiles

(Continues…)

The improving part also mentions both, stating that if the setting is disabled, what you use both for would be processed locally.

This same page can be found under Settings > Siri > Enable Siri and Settings > General > Keyboard > Enable Dictation as respectively “About Siri and Privacy” and “About Dictation and Privacy”

Also, it is important to note: on this context, this iPhone does not support Apple Intelligence, just regular Siri. This means Apple Intelligence features can’t even be enabled.

edit: typo

What is the consensus on this matter?
