Why do you want downgrade your mobile speed?
Voice & Data: LTE
Data Mode: Low Data Mode
iCloud Backup: disabled

iCloud Backup
Back Up This iPhone: enabled
Back Up Over Cellular: disabled - Doesn’t make any sense

Enable Cellular Usage Statistics: enabled - Where is this option and do you want enable it?

Music
Audio Quality
Cellular Streaming: High Efficiency - Why?
Download over Cellular: disabled - Why?

Photos
Cellular Data: disabled - Why?

Translate
On-Device Mode: disabled - Why not?

TV
Use Cellular Data: disabled - Again why?

Wallet
Apple Cash: disabled - Why?
Pay Later: disabled - Why?

Yubico Authenticator - This has 32 entry limit per key. Why not Bitwarden or Ente Auth?
Mullvad VPN - Even though it is good for privacy, it is killing the battery. Proton or IVPN would be a better choice.

A question. What is your hate against cellular network on iPhone? We are living in 2025 and many people have high amounts of data limits, if not unlimited. Your list looks like it is made to downgrade iPhone.

Unfortunately not all have that high of data bandwidth limit.
With that said I agree, this makes no sense for those who do.

Correct.

Then just don’t change it. But it is noted to at least make users aware of it since there is no singular option.

many people do not have high amounts of data

if you want to give money to friends/family use real paper cash?

why should predatory loan services be recommended?

because it supports vastly fewer languages then

this just lets you see how much data each app uses

none of those settings slow anything down

neither of those are discrete hardware keys

LTE instead of 5G Auto + 5G Standalone? :eyes:

Why use LTE when there is 5G? You are limiting your mobile bandwidth with these options

Is it not Apple Pay or is this something else?

If they are living in 3rd world country, yes, but this data package limitation is not related to privacy.

I asssume this is US thing because I don’t have that option in Germany.

is it not better to have translations on the device instead of searching for translations everytime from the internet?

Still Yubikey has 32 entry limitation. Using a password manager is better.

The vast majority of the time when your phone shows a 5g symbol, it is really just using 4g.

Storing your passwords and TOTP codes in the same database is asinine.

Cash is distinct from Pay.

And I recommend disabling Apple Pay too again in favor of real cash.
By enabling Apple Pay you consent to your sensor data transmitted to Apple and third parties.

Are you talking about 5gE? That is mislabeled 4g but I believe that’s an ATT marketing thing only, not a widespread one.

This is unrelated.
Most “5g towers” are 5G NSA: 5G NR - Wikipedia

Then use two password managers? I don’t get people who are trusting their passwords to a secure password manager but getting paranoid about storing TOTP codes in the same password manager. Then use BW Authenticator or Ente to store your TOTP codes.

No, thank you. I will never do that. Paying with Apple Pay provides more security than paying with cash

This seems to be US thing, again not related to the rest of the world.

Well, financial security maybe, not opsec.

Here in Germany, most of the places require credit card, instead of cash. Also paying cashless provides physical security, lowering your chances of getting robbed on the street. I am not even carrying my physical credit card for years and max money that I have on me is like 20-30 Euro

Right, financial security in the sense that you are less likely to have your money stolen or to become a victim of fraud. It is still poor opsec to have all your transactions digitally linked. Bummer if it’s a requirement in Germany.

In my place it is fortunate that everyone accepts cash or a combination of both if necessary so having that in favour of Apple Pay is good and I’m okay with that change.
With that said my threat model does so far allow to pay with card just like you and so I would genuinely prefer to use Apple Pay over Google Pay stares intensely at my Fitbit watch
And I’ve been a victim of fraud once and almost twice so in some way I do prefer card payments too.

Merchants get cheaper processing fees, called level 3, if they include itemized transaction lists to the processor (Visa, Mastercard, etc.).
Anyone can then purchase this data with all items included.

yes with that said it doesn’t safeguard the data coming from the major card brands and banks
(all though unless you were kinda forced into this, technically you’re trusting your bank if you already signed up in one)

I updated the main post with settings for GrapheneOS too, the list is much shorter

Nothing kills my battery on standby more than 5G… It never lasts a whole day

My iPhone 15 Pro Max lasts two days usually with normal usage, 2 hours gaming, lots of 9gag and Reddit browsing, Outlook and Teams always running in background, etc

This changes only if I run a VPN. Especially Mullvad first, then Windscribe comes as second, which are real battery killers, my phone couldn‘t even last a day

That is pretty good battery life as I have never experienced more than a day with my 15 pro max. I am a heavy user though.

On my OnePlus 12 I get about the same battery life but I also have ProtonVpn on all of the time. The efficiency of Android is subpar compared to the IOS experience but I really do not like the OS.

But back on topic, I keep 5g enabled on both devices and still manage a full working day plus after work doom scrolling, watching tv/movies, and 2 or 3 hour gaming sessions.
