Hello,
I have some questions about Google Wallet please. For it work properly on GrapheneOS, it requires Play Services to have access to SMS and phone. And I have some questions please:
The first question is simple: is there a way to add Wallet to the drop down menu?
Second: Should I assume that every pass I add and payment I do through wallet will be used by Google for tracking?
Third: Granting access of SMS and phone to Play Services, should I assume Google will get every SMS and phone call I make?
I’m not personally aware of anything that Google runs on Android to collect this data, but they absolutely would have the technical capability to do so, yes.
Thank you. It is sad that it is difficult to find a middle ground for privacy / convenience for using phones features.
Having an almost fully working Wallet (minus NFC) respecting privacy with GrapheneOS would have a been great.
The Google messages app sends the phone number of the message sender to google, and the google dialer app will send the phone number of every phone call received if you have “See caller and spam ID” enabled.
Well if you use the now default messages app it syncs all your SMSes to the cloud, so pretty sure they do. So Gplay scans all your messages for tokens etc, doubt they will leave it at that.
