After resetting and erasing data wanted to start macbook air “fresh” setting up from recovery mode without internet with “Command +R” but mac does nothing.
MacBook Air model A2681, silicon, M2 chip
There was no problem, its brand new, just wanted to erase all data and start setting up with Michael Bazzell tips from his book, but admit being technically challenged doing normally only simple “user stuff”(sorry english not my mothertongue) .
Would like to avoid connecting macbook to internet as never was online and want to keep using offline. There is a recovery disk so dont really understand why its not working…
Can you provide more detail on Cmd+R? I also reset any computer after purchase and I don’t know of a method to bypass activation lock on the M-series chips.
Are you just going to connect to WiFi in the end anyway? If so, I doubt you will see much benefit avoiding the activation lock. However, if you really wanted to here are some ideas:
A router connected to tor or a VPN. GLinet travel routers have this built in.
A coffee shop or market with guest wifi. Bonus points if you do it in another city.
A phone hotspot with a VPN app. I have never tried this, but I assume it would obfuscate sufficient to your needs.
So no way to set mac silicon up without internet… bad, my idea was to keep it offline. Shouldn’t have reset the mac…hm, will have to see what to do. Thank you!
