Pixel 8 Pro side of screen blinking when off

I have just noticed yesterday that when my Pixel 8 Pro is off and I just press the power button without turning it on , the side of the screen blink. Meaning I can see a bit of light…

Do you mean the device is powered-off (shut down) and pressing the power button without holding it in to power-on the device? In that case, I am not able to reproduce this on my Pixel 8 Pro running GrapheneOS.

On a somewhat related note, I’ve been experiencing occasional horizontal white bars flashing near the top of my screen. It only occurs occasionally, but once it starts, it tends to keep happening for a couple of hours, at which point it stops and may take days / weeks to happen again. I would be inclined to believe it’s a hardware issue, but it’s very strange that it happens so inconsistently. There was a fix for a similar sounding issue in the January Pixel update: Fix for issue with flashing lines on screen in certain conditions*[2] but supposedly that was only for the Pixel 9 series.

Yes and it is running Graphene OS

Pretty much every time I press the power button, I can see flashing vertically on the right hand side…

Sounds like hardware issue, you might want to reach out for a RMA?

Playing with it now. Not really a vertical line but major part of the right side flashing one time, if I press the power button when off.

Sadly I cannot return product when I live…

It was a renewed form Amazon.com

Could it be that they put a new screen on the phone?

(Edit)

Could be. In this case you should try to reach out Amazon for a RMA.
